Mark MallamoParticipant
We managed to extend the holiday weekend with 11 more flights on Monday. It was a cool and breezy operation from the east end. Junior members with the day off from school received dual flights. Mike Palmer did two more flights in the 1-26 as he works toward his commercial add-on. DJ and I managed to top out at 5300 feet despite a steady wind from the northwest. Thanks to Nick for towing today! All said, we had 38 flights over the three day stretch. Enjoy the remaining days of the season as we are in the final stretch.
Mark MallamoParticipantSunday, October 8th was a cool but productive day. Despite a late start, we ended up with 14 flights. Several Junior members did multiple dual flights with club CFIs. New member, Mike Palmer was checked out in the club 1-26 and did two flights this afternoon. Nick did the towing today while Gary P., John S., and I provided instruction. Stay tuned for possible Monday (holiday) ops tomorrow.
Mark MallamoParticipantRegardless of soaring conditions it will be a great day for training and one of the few remaining weekends this season. Several members have already confirmed they are planning to fly.

Mark MallamoParticipantHe should absolutely be able to have full range movement on all of the flight controls. Have we extended the pedals in the 2-33 for him?If that doesn’t work, why not see if the Krosno is a better fit for him? We’ve soloed new students in it before without trouble. If we’re concerned about damaging the Krosno and not being able to get parts, we shouldn’t keep this glider in our fleet if it’s going to be an unused asset.

Mark MallamoParticipantAre we really at the point where we have to ask if anyone wants to fly on the weekend??

Wednesday, June 28th, 2023 at 7:53 am in reply to: Sky Soaring Member Achieves Silver Altitude #13811Mark MallamoParticipantThanks Don! This was a surprisingly easy task for the altitude requirement of the Silver Badge which I have done before, but regrettably never took along a flight recorder to capture it. Don took the time to show me how the club’s Oudie flight recorder works (it is pretty simple) and I brought it along on my flight to see what would happen.
I encourage other members to get a tutorial on the Oudie and bring it along on your solo flights if it looks like a promising day. You may be happily surprised!
Next up are the Silver duration and distance flights with are admittedly harder.
