Hello:
I can be out at the field Saturday. I can help work on the fuel line but it appears there may be 4 other sets of eyes looking at it. If it is the line we should replace the whole line and not try to do a patch job. Will replacing the fuel line require the dropping of the fuel tank or can we see everything if we remove the back seat? Does anyone have experience in replacing the fuel line on that make/model? A little knowledge will go a long way in making the job quicker and safer. I do some of my own vehicle work but never had to replace a fuel line.

Rich WalendaParticipantHello:
This year I had 46 glider flights. Two of them were winch launches. My glider pilot skills increased and I had fun. No complaints. My annual dues plus tow fees and some instructor costs possibly make me a gold level financial contributor to the club. My other choice this year was to purchase a plane and fly around by myself but that would be very expensive. I have no problem with a one time $400 special assessment (does that bring me to a Platinum level contributor?).
I do have empathy for those that an extra $400 may cause them to rethink their hobby. Not everyone is lucky enough to have stable employment or investments that did well this year. Sometimes things are out of personal control. This year was a damaging year to many due to COVID 19 shutting down jobs. Is there a way to reduce the costs to those that may have a hardship? I saw that Don found a loophole for Tim to utilize to keep his costs lower. Are there any other ideas out there to help those that could use it?
We have a pretty good club. We do need tow plane with a good engine as that is an important part of a glider club. We also have an excellent winch that was underutilized this season. Perhaps we can have scheduled days where our assets are used to their full potential and therefore bring in more club revenue. If instructors are available that can get credits then their share of belonging to the club is reduced. We can find ways to make this work. This should not be a glider club for millionaires only. Thanks for bringing up this topic.

Rich WalendaParticipantHello:
I just read everything. I am happy that no one got hurt. I have a first aid/trauma kit that is ready to be talked about at the next meeting and staged in the hangar. I also have heard suggestions of having some sort of first aid/ready response kit in each club glider which is a good idea. Each glider can have a scaled down emergency kit which would be helpful in land outs or even an emergency on the far end of the field. Again, thankfully no one was hurt.

Rich WalendaParticipantHello:
Happy Veteran’s Day! Thank you Mr. Scott for towing and thanks to Christopher Frederick for wing running.
Today was a decent day at Sky Soaring with a light breeze coming down the runway with just a very slight crosswind. Operations were on the far “27” end. Our crew of 3 had 6 great flights. Thanks to the recent crosswind training by CFIs Scott and Vaughn today’s wind was a piece of cake. There was also some lift. Not a bad sunny November day!

Since Saturday is forecast as freezing rain I would like to fly tomorrow if we get a crew together. I can be there around 11 am. Also, thank you to all of the veterans in the club that served the USA. Happy Veteran’s Day.Regards,
