Cloud base was around 5100 above Sky Soaring but only 4800 everywhere else. Towards Galt or Polar Grove large gaps between the clouds. So I flew within a 15 miles radius. Thermal was broken, sometimes I had a feeling there is a few cores in one thermal.

The sky looks so promising I even took my Oudie and was ready for (some short) cross country flight. After finish my first flight in 30 minutes I immediately too another one (1 hour 40 minutes). I was able to get 5200 msl above Sky soaring but only 4400 about half way between Sky soaring and Belvidere. Didn’t have enough of courage go more north because sky covering of clouds was 8/8. Once you dropped below 3000 I was happy to thermal in 0.5 knots to stay up. Maybe my mistake when traveling from Cumulus to another one was that I picked one when the clouds were already dying… still a lot of stuff to learnPetr FolwarcznyParticipantI was going to ask the same question… I’ll take a breakfastPetr FolwarcznyParticipantOh thank you! I looked at Skysight and didn’t looks promising… I’ll come out too

I took three take offs and flew almost 5 hours during the first day. During my third flight, I repeatedly reached 7700 MSL and briefly visited Poplar Grove. Thank you Greg Tomczyk and John Scott who waited for me
