Larry KaseParticipantSimple green or dish soap is fine, but the elbow grease must be aircraft quality, FAA approved.

Larry KaseParticipantThe instructors have received a report from the BOD that the dues increase for them will remain. They have said that the CFIGs receiving any of the instruction fee in dues credits is “inherently unfair”.
Apparently, dues credits for A&P mechanics would also be unfair.
I discussed the issue with Gary Palumbo.
We have decided to stand by our fellow instructors and towpilots by withdrawing our services as Certified Mechanics.
Unfortunately this is the first time in club history that instructors have refused to fly and A&Ps have refused to work.Larry Kase

Larry KaseParticipantOn the landing roll out, the safest time to deviate from the centerline is when firm directional control is available. At a brisk walk directional control has already been lost. A good technique is to move to the side while above 20 k at a shallow angle to the runway, parallel the runway. The inertia of the glider will keep it away from the flight line after directional control is lost. If a direction change is being made during the lower speed when directional control is lost the inertia of the tail will take the student into the flightline. That happened at SSI. The student broke the canopy with his forehead. The high energy landings are likely caused by inability to fly to a aimpoint.

We were faced with $200k in debt with a bank loan at 7%. We had 35 members. Ouch!We reduced dues. We changed the constitution to reduce entrance into the club by $1000 with unanimous consent of the membership. We doubled the size of the club in one year and earned a end of year profit of $18,000. Mike is one of our unsung heroes.

Larry KaseParticipantIf the winch does zero flights, it costs us each 1 beer. If we do 57 we get to keep the beer. I vote to keep and put me down as a winch weekday coordinator. We could use another volunteer for that position.

Larry KaseParticipantI phoned John Derosa today to discuss the board meeting issues. He told me they have held secret closed meetings in the past month. He said I would not be able to attend secret closed meetings in the future. I stated that as a director, Section 3 in the constitution does not allow that.
He stated I still could not attend because he has been on the Boards at other organizations and they allowed secret closed meetings.Section 3
Regular meetings of the Board of Directors shall be called at times and places to be determined by the President. Special meetings of the Board of Directors may be called at any time by the President or by request of two other Directors. Notice of special meetings of the Board of Directors, stating the time and in general terms the purpose, shall be mailed or personally given to each Director no later than three days preceding the day appointed for the special meeting, and if all Directors are present at the special meeting, any business may be transacted without previous notice. Four Directors shall constitute a quorum of the Board at all meetings. The affirmative vote of a majority of the Directors present at any meeting shall be necessary to pass any resolution or authorize any act of the Club. What happens at these closed meetings that must be kept secret from the members???
