John PhelanParticipant
I plan to be there by noon with a crock pot full of rocket fuel chili.
I’ll also bring the necessary tools to remove the Pumpkin decals and tail numbers from the 2-33. Maintenance/Flight Chairs – please confirm you want these decals removed so the ship can be painted. Once I start to remove them, there is no turning back.

Subject: 2023 Soaring Calendar, By Steven Snyder, [Sky Soaring]John PhelanParticipantJohn,
I think the Hustlers can be used once the Ford has knocked down the first layer in the bean field. We’ll need to play it by ear, as that field is highly overgrown and some of the plants are 5+ feet tall. The Ford may need to make multiple passes before we’re down to Hustler height. The amount of cuttage will be enormous and we may need to use the mowers to grind that up so it doesn’t smother new growth in the spring. Maybe we should hire a Goat Herder and his herd to take care of it.

The key in any of these situations is to get the knot out immediately and not allow the tow plane to hook up and pull it tight when taking up the slack. All knots are relatively easy to remove if they have not been tightened. Once tightened, some can be impossible to get out without compromising the rope.
Wing runners and rope retrievers should be checking the ropes with each hookup. Simply running the rope through your hand will tell you if there is a knot (be aware of rope burn). Most knots occur at the glider-end of the rope so it is fairly ease to catch, if you’re paying attention.

That one does not have round-abouts but the exits/entrances are right next to each other. Turn down the wrong side and you’re heading into on-coming traffic. However, you would have to go through the toll booth backwards and all the signage would be backward as you headed east in the west lanes. That should throw up some red flags. She would have had to travel almost 10 miles to get to Marker 33.5. In that time, she had plenty of clues that something wasn’t quite right. Traffic on the other side of the divider going the same way. Signs all backwards. Mile markers all backwards. Lots of clues. What I haven’t heard is whether or not alcohol was involved.

(S20 Mobile)John PhelanParticipantI do. I’ll see if I can make it out tomorrow afternoon and take a look. Is it flyable or will it be available for member use during the day?
