With all the rain we have had for 2 days, does it make sense to do grounds work?
    <p style=”text-align: left;”>My rain gauge has another > 1 inch beyond 3″ from Sun-Mon.  Could be a really muddy mess.</p>

To members with private gliders, what are the benefits of Oudie system, compared with tools like TopHat or XC Soar that run on Android Pads or phones,  or Apple iPad or phone. ?

Seems like Oudie hardware platform may have been around before other computing (cheaper) platforms were easily available. As example, I think the TH orXCS also have moving maps, Task setups, compute final glides, keep data stats, create IGC files,  etc. , but maybe that is slim pickings compared to Oudie.

Thing is,  ALL gliders at the 3 Chicago clubs should have transponders….Important as an altimeter is, especially in the extremely crowded airspace of NE illinois

2 or 3 important Articles by Steve Platt, in Soaring Magazine, will clarify your analysis, radius, speed, downwind energy, etc:   “Turning Flight Performance”, April 2020, “Turning Efficiency”, Sept 2021,  “Rope Break”,  March 2019.

The TFR for Chicago airspace Wednesday,  sure messes that possible nice day.  20 yrs on and still having to cope with El presidente visits.  The gall is blockout of most GA airspace for many hours (9:30-6:30) during big wonderful speeches inside buildings.

For #1, a 16% increase in Sink Rate (=ft/min) seems high, for just a gentle 30deg bank.

For #2, stall speed increase by square root of load increase (ie, a verticle weight increase by banking)  would be ~7.5%.  The polar moves right, yes?
