Tim
Tim PonsotParticipant<p style=”text-align: left;”>I’ll be there to help out.</p>
Cheers
Tim
Tim PonsotParticipantAnyone still coming out today?
-Tim
Tim PonsotParticipantI’ll be there both days, yeah
Tim PonsotParticipantI will be out
Cheers
Tim
Tim PonsotParticipantLet’s shoot for 9:30 or 10. I’ll be there ballooning and will pull out as much of the ground equipment as I can.
Tim PonsotParticipantTad was an extremely resourceful and fun guy to be around. He had his own way of doing things…which was more often than not ingeniously efficient and brilliantly simple. I understand he was an instructor in Poland and part of the team that designed the PW-5.
A friendly face at the club who will be sorely missed.
Tim PonsotParticipantUpdate. We ARE flying today starting at 1. C’mon out!
Tim PonsotParticipantTo piggyback off this (potential) wastage of fuel, I ask that we leave the cans of drained fuel in place. Tried burning a small amount earlier today in the fire pit and it behaved in a way that miiiight be safe to still use in the heaters. Waiting one week for a special calibrated flask to ship, then I will weigh it to see what the gas:kerosene ratio is. If there’s too much gas I will bring it to a hazmat disposal site. Let’s hope we can still make use of it.
-Your friendly neighborhood chemistry nerd
Tim PonsotParticipantI’ll come out.
Tim PonsotParticipantAll good points made here. It’s true that it is possible to jam a Schweizer type release if the load is applied in the wrong direction, perpendicular to the long axis of the swinging link. Denny made a great point about the tow plane being susceptible.
I also wonder if the pitch attitude of the kiting glider rose to a point where the angle of the tow rope caused its release, also, to jam.
In essence I wonder if both releases jammed at once because of the unusual pitch attitudes.
Tim PonsotParticipantHi All-
I saw that some of you had bookings with me today and I’m sorry to give such short notice…I’m on call at work for the next two weeks including today. Weekend ops only for me. If there is any interest in dusk patrols for the next two weeks I can be out at the field by 6. Sorry guys. -
