Karl LandlParticipant
How does an operation look for Friday 8/7 ?
Karl LandlParticipantI may come out tomorrow, Sunday. Not sure if I want to fly.
Karl LandlParticipantWhen I joined the club in 2006 my immediate concern and question was what about the ditch at the end of runway 09. I never heard any discussion regarding this matter. I wonder why? Nothing serious?
Karl
Karl LandlParticipantHi Tim:
Please order one for me.
Thanks, Karl
Karl LandlParticipantI am interested in coming out.
Karl
Karl LandlParticipantI would like to come out and bring along some Rhubarb cake.
Karl LandlParticipantCongratulations to all that soloed on Sunday! Pictured with CFI-G Steven Snyder is Andy but does the ‘C’ after Andy’s name stand for Comedian?
Karl
Karl LandlParticipantThank you Don for informing us regarding the flooding of the creek. This is the 3rd. time that it happened to me and I am afraid that the trailer’s surge brake system is ruined again. Sediment works itself into the system and probably has to be cleaned out again. Question: Why do some of the private ship owners trailers have to be tied down in that low lying swampy area? We had absolutely no problems when the trailers were tied down opposite the hangar but with the arrival of the winch things changed. I would like to emphasize that I am not anti winch!

Karl LandlParticipantWhat’s wrong with going skiing?Karl
Karl LandlParticipantI only heard of the name Dr. Clare Close while flying out of the CGC field. It was some time in the 90s when a notice was posted on a wall in the club house informing all members not to talk to or welcome Dr. Close and his group with all the names listed. Dr. Close however made a flight with Ron Ridenour but afterwards was told that he would not be accepted as a new member because he failed the check ride badly and would not fit into the club.
Will there be a Chili fest Jan. 1st.? We don’t hear anything! Happy New Year to All!
Karl
Karl LandlParticipantThank you Barry for posting this vintage video! I was born about 10 miles from that airfield which was used by the military during WWII. After that it was extensively used as a glider port with winch launches only. It is NOT part of the Tyrolean Alps as mentioned in the video at all rather it is located in the province of STYRIA or Steiermark where Arnold Schwarzenegger comes from. The colossal mountain that you see is called Grimming and is the tallest free standing mountain in Europe with a vertical rise of 5,600 ft. Not really aviation related but may be of interest to some members.
Karl LandlParticipantAnd I always wonder why our club gliders aren’t tied down with the up-wind wing down? In our case the right wing because most all of the strong winds come from a westerly direction. Two weeks ago I did just that in strong conditions.
My 2 cents.
