The broken spring is actually part of the mechanical governor on the engine.  I found a description and drawing, but no part number, in the Kohler Engine Service Guide.  If someone is out at the field in the next couple of days and can get the engine Model and Serial numbers for me, that would be most appreciated.  I need the numbers off the engine, not the mower (I have those).  This is for Hustler #2, the newer one, parked closest to the garage door of the hangar on Monday.  Thanks.  Just e-mail, text them or post a message with the numbers, please.

There is a broken spring on the choke, causing it to run really rich.  I’ll have to plow through the parts manual to see if we can find a replacement spring.

Done.  Hustler #2 is not developing full power and it backfired several times upon start-up.  I’ll check the plugs and wiring.

Be there or be a rectangle whose diagonals are equal in length 🙂

    -Tim

Unless geometry has changed drastically since I was in school,  ALL rectangles have diagonals that are equal in length.

A Square is a quadrilateral whose four sides are equal and whose four angles are also equal.

Please let me know if I missed something in the New Math being taught these days.

Weather looks iffy for Saturday but there are plenty of things to do.Fix something that’s broken     Hustler mower #1     Zippers on the tent for the tractor     Flag on the hangarMow some grass – it keeps growing whether we fly or not and there’s lots of it.Trim the way-overgrown bushes by the front door.Weedwhack the areas where the mowers can’t go.FOD-walk the old tie-down area to make sure there is no tie-down hardware to foul the mowers.Check the new tie-down area to make sure the gliders are secure.See how far the beavers have gotten with their dam.Lots of things to do!I’ll be out there around 10am to work on some of the above.

    Don,

Sorry for your loss.  I’ll let you know what I find.  Probably just some minor issue that we can fix on-site.

Thanks to Jim Hopkins for helping with the bush trimming project this morning.  Still a long way to go but we got the front part cut back.  Tops & back still need to be knocked down.  And plenty of cuttings need to be raked up & moved to the burn pile. The rain fought us to a stand-still but we’ll be back to tame the jungle.  Feel free to jump in.

    John,

I’ll be there and can bring chips and dips.  I also have a case of water in the car for the hangar.

    Rich,

Were the tie-down straps with ratchets, straps tied in knots, chain, clips?  What part came loose?

We’ve had issues with the ratchet tighteners not being locked shut after they are cinched down.  They come loose pretty easily, at that point.

Thanks for keeping an eye on everything.

Also keep in mind that unless the machine in question is designed to be in outdoor environments, it will not fare well in the hangar in the wintertime.  The cooling system needs an ambient air temp above the refrigerated temp in order to be efficient and maintain the internal temperature.  Otherwise, the pop can freeze in the wintertime and then you have a real mess to contend with.

Hello Rich, We had a soda machine for several years. We got rid of it a couple years ago as it wasn’t maintained and I think it had some problems dispensing. I don’t think we need one at the field. But we can put it on the BOD agenda to talk about it.
