Denny and Karl, thanks for the follow up questions. Note that the checklists in this thread are for the Sky Soaring club ships. These are standard Schweizer checklists that have been used for decades and are in all club ships. Club CFIG’s use and teach this checklist. By using a standard Challenge and Response for each checklist item, everyone on board will understand what is being checked.

Many private ship owners will create there own checklist that fits the equipment on there glider. Karls CBSWIFTCBE checkist is used by many as well.
The moral of the story, no matter what checklist you use, is it should be a Challenge and a Response related to the item being checked.

Denny, the Radio Call is one of those items that hasn’t been incorporated in the Before Takeoff and Landing checklists. It has to be mentally remembered. Usually a Preflight Radio check is done to be sure you can communicate with the towplane. The landing radio call is to announce your intention to land.

I’ll be out on Tuesday. I can do spring checkouts and tow, but not at the same time. 😁

Denny, you will need a third solo flight to meet the 90 day currency before you can take up a passenger. FAR 61.57

Friday and Saturday were both good days weather wise and flying wise. We got six of our flight instructors there spring checkouts and we were even able to get some rated pilots checked out as well on Saturday. We were able to start our new procedures such as our daily morning briefing and utilizing our new Briefing Board.

This coming weeks weather is looking good and I’m hopeful that we will be able to get the 1-26’s and 1-34 assembled. Watch for an email.

If you celebrate Easter, please enjoy your day today with family and friends and take a day of rest.

Come on out Friday and Saturday. We’ll get the flight instructors there spring checkouts then start with members. We could also do some assembly on Saturday. Weather is looking nice both days. Sunday is Easter and I would guess most will be staying home with family. Next week weather is looking good too. Watch for an email on what days we will be flying.

Hi Denny, great question. It does not benefit the club directly if a member buys his own “aircraft renters insurance”. What it does do is benefit the member that purchases the insurance. In the event of an accident, your renters insurance will cover your liability and hull damage, up to your policy limits, after Sky Soarings insurance. The club could come after you to pay for damage to the aircraft which your insurance would cover. There are a number of companies that offer aircraft renters insurance, fairly inexpensive. AOPA and Avemco are a few.

    Sky Soaring Members,
As a reminder, all members are required to review and complete the online Wing Runner course every year prior to flying. Print your completion certificate and bring it with you to place in your personnel folder.  Tow Pilots are required to complete the Tow Pilots Course as well. Here are the links to both the Wing Runner Course and Tow Pilot Course.
