If the top is fiberglass which I believe it is, I use Star Brite Marine Polish with PTEF. It’s made for fiberglass boats and does a good job of keeping mold and mildew off. I believe it’s available at Walmart for about $14 a bottle. I use it on my trailer.
The C-182 owners manual has been scanned and is now available in pdf format for download. You will find it in the SSI Files/Docs under C-182 category. All tow pilots should review the manual. Please note that many of the speeds (ie. stall etc) do not apply since the C-182 has the Horton Stol Kit installed on it.

Good idea Denny, I did about 15 tows on Saturday and a few on Sunday and I set the trim at about 4° nose up and just left it there. I never had to touch the trim wheel So I never came close to releasing the rope in flight. That seemed to work well too. But I think something needs to be done as you mentioned.
