Dennis BurkeParticipant
I will strong attempt to be onsite Sat.
I could also use some refresh training in Krosno
Dennis BurkeParticipantThanks to Don, Larry, John and all who re-engineered the replacement’s fitting. A difficult task.
Dennis BurkeParticipantI had a question on the Tues…..was the high density altitude for that day (high temp, high humidity) any factor in trying to stay aloft for multiple hours?
For using a hi-perf Ventus it may not matter?
Dennis BurkeParticipantThanks for the tip, Steve , Nick.
I saw that I was the only one signed up on BOP for Monday, probably little interest after a strong weekend of ops.
Dennis BurkeParticipantYes, i am interested. Especially I think we may all need it when it comes to Winch Operation-specific topics. Many of attended the good SSI winch Ops Review at Schaumburg airport facility back in May of 2018. Really could use that again.Dennis BurkeParticipantArt, besides Students, Instructors, towpilots, etc……I think that Book Our Plane for SSI might benefit to have Extra Columns added for Flight Task availability for all members to post their avalabilty for day or week.Task could be W. R. , Timer, GSO, Retrieve driver, and even more tasks for Winch Launch specialties that operation requires.Dennis BurkeParticipantThe Skew-T app I use (on Android) predicted Thurs would have possible 11k clouds, to the start of the Temp inversion layer.So 9k was the reality!Sunday, June 13th, 2021 at 8:45 am in reply to: TONIGHT! – Chicagoland Glider Council Mtg with FAA ATC #10647Dennis BurkeParticipantThis was a important presentation by Eddie T., from Tracon, esp since our Club gliders do it have mode C transponder, as many of the Private ships at SSI do, some privates also with ads-b Out. These 2 allow ATC and GA (having ads-b In) to see the traffic.Those club ships doing day-member or Mile high scenic are at a disadvantage of not being noticed or tracked by ATC for clearance / separation to ORD arrivals that are landing eastbound. Anyone attempting XC with a Club single-place would also be unnoticed by ATC.
Another fact is that 55LL is not yet displayed on ATC radar…..hopefully that will change soon.We learned tonite that if a glider has Transponder, they can request Flight Following from ATC & use code 1202, and show up on radar.
Dennis BurkeParticipantFrom http://www.usairnet.com/KRFD, it’s indicating Thurs 6-10 may be better than Fri.
Predicts T-D spread = 26
Dennis BurkeParticipantThanks Rich, for keeping an eye on that important F.A. kit
Dennis BurkeParticipantSunday was a good day, all around!
<div dir=”auto”>
<div dir=”auto”>But the BookOurPlane reservation system failed to work as intended. There were 4 club gliders in the sky at almost all within the same time window, but no members had set up any of their “1hr” slots.</div>
<div dir=”auto”>
<div dir=”auto”>As a result, any latecomers arriving past 2pm missed their opportunity. If they had been relying on BookOurPlane for status, it would have shown “gliders open” that were not.</div>
</div>
</div>Dennis BurkeParticipantI forgot to ask earlier on this Post. Since it wasn’t mentioned past 5-17-21, who or what organization gives us SSI the “green light” to resume flight ops? I only ask because aviation is such a highly-regulated endeavor.
