Andrzej – The thing to do if you are getting sucked into a cloud is to fly to the next cloud! Between the two clouds you will descend just fine. (using spoilers is fine too)

So starting about 8:37 tonight start looking.
The ISS is large enough that you can just barely make out its spidery shape.
John DeRosaParticipantMany thanks to everyone that did all the behind the scenes work that needs to get done around the club.
John DeRosaParticipantIt looks like the Zoom link is getting broken up by our messaging system.
Lets try this.

This month’s speech topic will be;
Overview and Comparison of Soaring Forecasting Tools
Speaker: Don GrilloSynopsis: Once upon a time there was only looking out the window to try and guess if it might be a good soaring day. Then came Skew-T and Dr. Jack to add more ways of determining in advance weather and soaring conditions. Now there are three contenders for best soaring forecasting with better presentation and top quality insights into our important questions, “will this be a good day?” and “where can I find lift?”. This presentation will compare and contrast the features of SkySight, TopMeteo and XC Skies. What a wonderful way to start the soaring season!

Overview of Emergency Location Devices – Sooner or later you will land out, it happens to all cross country soaring pilots. Most likely everything will turn out fine but there is a chance that it will not. You might land out in an area without cell phone coverage. You might be injured and need quick help. There are now multiple types of devices that can help you in these situations as well as provide other useful features. The speech will be an overview of the available emergency devices. We will cover features, costs (fixed and recurring), along with the pros and cons of each type.

See the message below. I am thinking about making the presentation at a later time via a web meeting. Stay tuned.

The 10′ steel water pipe at the sock had sheared off at the coupling to the lower pipe that rotates. Unrepairable. Needs a new pipe. I won’t have time to fix it until next week.
Sorry, I did not note if the mid-field sock was OK.
