Hello All,
With January in the rear view mirror, it’s time to dust off the cob webs and start reviewing for the start of spring flying. The best way to do that is to use the WINGS program. Every Sky Soaring member should be signed up on WINGS. If not, go to faasafety.gov and register.
Did you know that you can do your Flight Review using WINGS. It requires 3 Knowledge and 3 Flight activities to complete. You do the Knowledge activities yourself through WINGS courses and seminars online. Then fly with any instructor at Sky Soaring to complete your Flight Activities. Flight Review Done!
I have uploaded a WINGS.pdf file to our SSI Files/Docs section of our website, located here, that has a list of Knowledge and Flight Activities catered to glider flying. It’s an excellent tool to get you started. If you have questions about WINGS, contact any Sky Soaring Flight Instructor. Steve Snyder will be giving a presentation on WINGS during our spring safety meeting. But, don’t wait till then. Get started now.

Rather than making three flights with one instructor on the same day, I took one flight with three instructors over the course of 2 years. Your spring check out flight(s) can count towards WINGS credit (talk to the instructor beforehand to let them know you would like this).Once you sign up at faasafety.gov you can select “Knowledge” seminars to take in different categories. Also you will begin to receive notifications of upcoming seminars which are usually 1-2 hours long. The Sky Soaring spring safety seminar will also count towards your requirement of 3 seminars. The Chicagoland Glider Council monthly winters seminars which we are working on being for WINGS credit. The next one is February 14th and will be about the Condor VR training system. See https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/chicagolandglidercouncil/join to sign up for email notifications.John H DeRosa(OHM Ω)“Anyone who has never made a mistake has never tried anything new.”– Albert Einstein

Hello:
Other than Wings there are a few FREE courses that are beneficial to all pilots:
KingSchools.com/CrosswindLandings
KingSchools.com/NonTowerComm
KingSchools.com/TSA
KingSchools.com/LearnToFly
KingSchools.com/PilotSyllabi
KingSchools.com/BasicMed
and for any CFI or AGI that wants a FREE course from Sporty’s:

Make it your goal for 2022 to take a free course or two.
Regards,
Rich
