Hello all,
For the last couple of months a few of us students, me, Brendan S. & Nick L. along with CFIG Steve S. have started a Zoom Ground School to help us make the leap. Nick’s success is a good argument that we’re going in the right direction and after speaking with Steve is time to extend the invitation for all that want to join. So far we have found that Wednesdays evenings work best so far between 7pm-9 pm . I have offered to use my Zoom account to host it and I will keep doing that in the future. Please bookmark this Zoom invitation if you are planning to join, it’s going to be used at every meeting, no matter the time and day.

I watched the videos about thermaling and ridge soaring. The ridge soaring was a bit scary to me. But the video on thermaling was very good. Especially the angle of bank and speeds. I don’t always bank as steeply as James Cooper but I do frequently bank and fly at the speeds he describes, 50 to 60 knots while thermaling.
So James video might help. Tighter circles will keep the glider in the area of lift better. And tighter circles will require higher speeds. For those of you searching give it a try! It just might end up adding time to your next flight.

Since I started playing around with Condor more seriously, and inspired by the ground school and the Proving Ground tasks and online Condor contest, I decided to finally work out speed to fly for myself.
