January 1st “Chili” Fest and the WX!!

I am looking forward to see you all at our traditional January 1st chili fest (or whatever is brought).

 

However, the board is keeping an eye on the local weather reports.  The next 48 hours does not look inviting with a Friday night forecast of a “wintery mix” changing to windy and blowing snow Saturday going into Sunday.

 

Depending on the latest forecast on Friday morning, we will make a call on having the “fest” on January 1st or postpone it to the following weekend.  Stay tuned.

All – For some reason my message sent out this morning at 10AM never made it out. Hopefully this one makes it.   Sorry for this hiccup.

 

The “Chili” test is POSTPONED until SATURDAY JANUARY 8th due to the National Weather Service forecast for tomorrow of;

 

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 9 AM SATURDAY TO MIDNIGHT CST
SATURDAY NIGHT...

* WHAT...Steady, blowing snow and dangerous travel expected. Total
  snow accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are expected. Northeast
  winds could gusts up to 35 mph Saturday afternoon and evening.

* WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast Illinois.

* WHEN...From 9 AM Saturday to midnight CST Saturday night.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Widespread blowing
  snow after sunset Saturday could significantly reduce
  visibility, especially in open areas.
