Covid-19 is a worldwide pandemic of which Sky Soaring members are not immune. The IDPH is reporting an uptick of cases in Illinois.  The Board of Directors is aware that some members, including some directors, have become lax in following the safety procedures put in place last spring requiring social distancing, the use of masks, hand sanitizing and gloves where/when necessary.

The Board is also aware that we have some members that have been staying away from the club because of those that are not following the protective rules.   This is not fair to those members that have paid full dues but feel that they may be at risk by coming out to Sky Soaring.  The club stands the risk of losing these members simply because some didn’t follow the rules.

Consequences of having a club member contact CV-19 would shut down operations for a minimum of 14 days and would put other members in quarantine that may have come in contact with him/her.  We must all be proactive and vigilant to prevent this from happening to ourselves, our friends and families, guests, and our Sky Soaring community.

Repeated individual noncompliance of the rules will result in being asked to leave the field until they are willing to comply with the clubs safety procedures that are put in place. This is for everyone’s benefit.

An updated set of covid-19 rules has been posted in the SSI/Files and Doc section of the website. Here is a direct link to that update. It is posted below for your benefit.

        While on Sky Soaring Property:

        1. Wear a mask or practice social distancing of at least 6ft
        2. Wash hands often or use hand sanitizer
        3. Visitors/Guests are required to wear a mask, social distance and to remain clear of the operations desk.   Have them wait on the deck.

        Self-Health Assessment:
Any member who has or may have been in contact with someone that has been exposed to or inflicted with the Covid-19 virus within the past 14 days should not visit Sky Soaring. Please stay home and follow CDC and IDPH guidelines. Contact a Sky Soaring Board Member if you test positive for CV-19.

        Ground Operations:
One person should be designated to run the flight sheet board. One person should be a designated wing runner. One person to help retrieve a glider after landing. No gatherings of people at the operations table without wearing a mask.

        Aircraft Reservations:
Use http://www.bookourplane.com to reserve your club aircraft in advance or when arriving at the field, use the sign-up sheet to schedule a glider and CFI-G.

        Club Flight Operations:
Pilot in Command of the flight is required to sanitize the flight controls (front and rear seat), knobs, microphone or handheld radio prior to flight. Masks are required for dual flights.

        Day Member/Guest Rides:
Guests should remain clear of the flight operations area. Have them wait on the patio deck until they are called for their ride. Masks are required for all guest rides.

        Private Ship Owners:
Private ship owners may fly anytime there is an operation on the field. Use social distancing when assembling/disassembling or towing your ships to the grid. Use your tow-out gear or a golf cart using one other person to run your wing for towing to the grid. Stage your sailplane off the runway. Grid your sailplane yourself or with one other helper when ready to fly.

            Hello:

Attached is a link to the Texas Medical Association COVID-19 Risk Chart.  The chart simply shows what the potential risk of an activity is.  Using a face covering and frequent use of hand sanitizer is a good start.  I have also attached the Nurse Molly Teaches Cross Contamination video for those who wear gloves – especially the same pair of gloves all day.  After watching the video you may want to toss the gloves and use hand sanitizer or soap and water.

            Regards,

            Rich
