John LincolnParticipant
Folks, This Saturday is our monthly meeting at the field starting at 9 am. I hope you all can make it. There may be some who go to Alans Corners for breakfast. Look for a post about that.
The weather for Saturday doesn’t look to promising. Lift at up to 2.7 knots to 2500′ agl. Cu’s with bases up to 2100′ agl. Wind 9 to 12 knots out of the west.
Note that the Krosno and PW-5 are both down. We’ll be looking at both of them.
There will be help for those who wish or need it to familiarize themselves with our new messaging system Discord.

John LincolnParticipantGood Afternoon club members. My last report for Saturday August 10th. Pretty much the same as yesterday with top of thermals at 3800′ agl and Cu’s with bases at 5500′ msl. Lift will be a bit stronger at 3.3 knots. Wind out of the west at 13 knots early and 10 knots late. At top of lift the wind is WNW at 16 to 23 knots. High temperature is 71 degrees. Hope to see you at the field tomorrow. John Lincoln
John LincolnParticipantTime for my morning report about Saturday. We’re back to last Tuesdays condition except not as high, top of lift at 3600′ agl and cloud base at around 5000′ msl. Surface winds are up to 12 knots out of the west but top of lift winds are down to 18 to 21 knots. Cu’s forecast for the entire day. One more report tomorrow. John Lincoln
John LincolnParticipantJust checked SkySight and the forecast for Saturday is back to what it was reported on Monday with the exception of the wind which is now westerly at 11 to 12 knots. At top of thermals it’s 25 to 27 knots. John Lincoln
John LincolnParticipantTuesday Update for Sat 8/10. Things have changed and not for the better. Lift is down to 3.1 knots with top of lift at 4000 agl. The cu’s are still there but bases will be lower early but rising as the day progresses. Bases at 4:30 are forecast to be 5750 msl. High temp is still about the same but one degree cooler. Wind is now WNW at 10 to 11 knots. I’m still planning to fly though. John Lincoln
John LincolnParticipantFellas, I have learned tonight that my sailboat lift and possibly my sailboat were damaged in the tornado that hit Williams Bay last night. I haven’t had a chance to check it so that is what I’ll be doing tomorrow. Therefore I most likely will not be able to get out to the field on Monday. John Lincoln
John LincolnParticipantStill looking for a tow pilot and wing runner for Friday. Weather for Friday. Wind is forecast 6 to 9 knots out of the SSW. Cu’s at 6 to 8K, lift 2.5 to 3.7 knots. Let me know.
I will be out even if no operation happens. I will mow and ????
John Lincoln
John LincolnParticipantI’m interested in flying on Flag Day. SkySight shows lift starting around 10:30 at 3.3 knots and increasing to 4.1 knots at 1:30, and lasting until around 4:30. High temps forecast to be 81 degrees. Wind is forecast to be NNW at 8 to 10 knots until the lake breeze shows up and changes the direction to NE. Any other interest, tow pilots? John Lincoln
John LincolnParticipantHello again folks,
Our Memorial Day Picnic is fast approaching. It will be on Monday, May 27th. Start time will probably be somewhere between noon and 2 pm as the soaring weather isn’t looking to promising. We could still use a member to bring chips (and dip?). Also please bring a dish to pass.
A final request. Could you respond to this post if you plan to attend so we can get a very rough idea of how many might be coming.
Please remember that Ed Stokes daughter and husband plan to attend to make a donation to the club and to share past memories he and they had with the club. I know I’m looking forward to meeting them and hearing what it was like during his time at SSI.
In hopes of hearing from you soon,
John Lincoln
John LincolnParticipantI received it Don, Thank You. John Lincoln
John LincolnParticipantI have a 1/2″ drive impact wrench that I can bring on Saturday. I also have a 3/4″ and 15/16″ impact sockets. Let me know if you want me to bring them. John Lincoln
John LincolnParticipantResending: My Bad, I meant APRIL 27th, not the 25th. John Lincoln
