unexpected Condor Simulator problem

For those of you who use Condor2 at home or out at the Field, i just recently noticed a problem using Condor2.  Possibly I’m a little late in knowing this issue, but after enough frustration, I finally contacted Scott Manley who, for the last 4 years, has produced glider training capabilities and an SBT environment in the Simulator.  I thought I’d like to launch a few of his SBT’s, and for a week or so could not get his files to run (replays, flightplans, etc) in Condor 2.1.8.

Scott said all of his GLI training topics and SBT were developed for Condor V 1.1.5.  They are totally incompatible with 2.x.x. For a while there, I thought I was copying his file-sets from his “gliderCFI.com” into the wrong directory structure.

Scott indicated that a user needs to have Condor 1.1.5 or lower to take advantage of his many training scenarios.

Ah, its a known problem.  Too bad Condor SW writers cannot correct any file-issue like that, since they wrote the code. Of course, what incentive ($$) would they have? Thanks Steve

I’m certain that Scott spent a lot of time making them only to have Condor 2 make them obsolete. The magazine articles should have pointed this out.

Oh yes.. And that’s a Condor development team problem. 

Ironically, in my work-industry years I saw much of that behavior from the SW dev teams i ( as hardware development guy) was surrounded by.
