Would you believe that two CFIG’s where out at Sky Soaring mowing on Sunday while not another member (except your’s truly) was there to fly?  Crazy!  Many thanks to Mark Mallamo and Don Grillo for doing their best to keep our field looking great.

      Hello:
Is there a way to fix the web cam so it can be accessed?  My computer does not like the plug in and therefore I can not see what is going on at the field.  It would be nice to look at the camera and see if members are there and then come out to the field.  Perhaps we can get one other camera that can be set up that can be accessed via computer or smartphone?  If funds are tight I can purchase one wifi cam that can be strategically set up.  Or, can we at least have some sort of schedule set up instead of ad-hoc ops?  Thanks in advance for any ideas to make our club better.
      Regards,
      Rich

        Rich,

Any of the new browsers (Firefox,
IE, Safari) will not work with the old webcam that is currently
installed at Sky Soaring.?? We tried a new webcam system but our
broadband at the club was to slow to handle a HiDef system.?? Now
that we have recently had the broadband increased, we are going
to try a new webcam system.

In the meantime you can try the old
Avant Browser. Some members have been able to get it to work.
        You can follow these instructions:

        http://skysoaring.com/ssidownloads/accessing-the-sky-soaring-web-cam/

Hopefully soon we will have a new
        webcam installed at Sky Soaring.

        Don

Rich, as Don has mentioned, the Avant browser will connect with the
existing Zmodo NVR ( network video recorder) that controls the existing
        4-camera Zmodo system.
As mentioned, any camera-over-internet requires a wireless system that
allows an Uplink ( camera-to-Internet service provider) of many Megabits
per second. That issue is being resolved with the newer wireless ISP
service that SSI has worked out with Fox Valley Wireless.

PS: Any new “wifi” cameras are even more brutal on bandwidth required to
support >30 frames per second, so be careful.
PSS: John Baker has found a Smartphone app that connects with the Zmodo NVR
        cams…..check with him.

Hi All….Just a reminder that we still need urgent help in maintaining our field this season.   In the past, we relied on a couple of dedicated members to do the bulk of this work.  Those folks are no longer with us, so it is incumbent upon the rest of our club to step up.  Thursdays or Fridays would be great days to volunteer to cut the grass as to not interfere with weekend flight ops.  If you haven’t been checked out on the Hustler lawn mower, be sure to do that the next time you are at the field.  We also need people to run the push mower & weed trimmer around the hangar and glider tie down spots (may have to pull out the gliders in order to cut grass).

The success of of our club depends on the dedication of all of our members!

Ok, ….on weed trimmer, the battery powered unit was checked on Tues 6-4, the spool cord was all messed, so it was realigned & feeds ok. The battery & charger seem fine.

The gas trimmer looks in worse shape…..spool is all unwound and  lines pulled out. I ran out of time to inspect/fix & run engine.
