      Greetings Sky Soaring members,

We will hold our mandatory attendance spring
      safety meeting
on Saturday, March 26, 2022.  Start
time is 0900. Location is the Sky Soaring Hangar.

Zoom will be available for those that absolutely can not attend
      in person.

Numerous safety topics will be discussed by club certified flight
      instructors.

To prepare for your upcoming flying, all members are required to
complete the online Wing Runner Course and print out and bring a
copy of your completion certificate which will be placed in your
      office folder.

Tow Pilots are also required to complete the tow pilot
course and print a copy to bring as well.

Here are the links to those courses:

      Tow Pilot Course:

Please plan on helping with assembling gliders after the Safety
      Meeting.

ALSO; we would like to assemble two gliders (Krosno &
1-26) on the Saturday prior to the safety meeting, March 19th. We
could use some additional hands for that.

      In other news;

Our Piper Pawnee towplane has a new rebuilt engine and is ready
for pickup at Poplar Grove Airmotive. We will pick it up sometime
after March 19th when we have room in the hangar.

We continue with our Saturday work parties as there is still lots
of work to be done prior to the start of flying. Come out and join
      us.

Attached to this email is the clubs current Policy and Procedures
manual. This is a good time to review the manual, prior to the
start of flying season. I will be going through the manual at the
safety meeting and highlighting important items that all members
should know. Having your own printed copy will be a benefit to
      follow along.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

      Regards,

      — Don Grillo

      Flight Committee Chairman

      Don,

If we completed the Wing Runner course last year, do we need to retake it?

      Best Regards,

      John F. Phelan

      Don,

I don’t see the attached Club Policies & Procedures or a link to it.  It may not have made it through the e-mail system.

      Best Regards,

      John F. Phelan

      John P,

Lets try that again. Attachment should be there now.

Also, yes, the Wing Runner Course and Tow Pilot course are to be
completed every year as a refresher course for all members.

      Regards,

      Don Grillo

Following the meeting it is traditional, WX permitting, that we start assembling the fleet.  ALL HANDS ON DECK!

      All Sky Soaring Members,

Reminder of the upcoming Sky Soaring mandatory annual safety meeting this Saturday, March 26th, at 9AM CT. Attendance will be kept and FAA WINGS credit will be given. Have you completed your required wing runner (or tow pilot) course yet? See details below from Don Grillo.
A team will arrive early the day of the meeting to warm up the hangar as Saturday may not be spring time warm weather just yet. As we do every year following the meeting we will continue the process of assembling the fleet. Every ship in the fleet is currently in annual though a few are awaiting some more efforts before being ready to fly.
Aviation safety is paramount! In-person attendance at the hangar is the very best approach to getting the most impact from our annual safety briefing via interactive Q&A. But if you absolutely cannot attend in person then the link to the Zoom meeting is shown below. Questions can be asked during the Zoom meeting via chat window.
      SEE YOU THERE!

      President, Sky Soaring Glider Club
