Be sure to reserve Saturday March 21st for our Spring Safety Meeting and glider assembly day! There will be a guest speaker as well as some familiar faces making presentations. All active members are expected to be there. Where? We are still working out the details but where ever it is you will want to attend.

You know where the field is and assembly day is equally important so make plans now and don’t miss it.

On behalf of your Board of Directors I look forward to seeing everyone and plan on flying very soon.

One more thing. All active members that pay their full year dues by the 21st receive a Free Flight Coupon! Value equals one 3,000 foot tow.

UPDATE! The location has been set as the Gail Bordon Public Library in Elgin. This is the same as last year and some other meetings we have held there. Start time is 9:15.

Address 270 North Grove Avenue Elgin. We will plan on supplying coffee if someone would like to bring breakfast snacks.

Hello Sky Soaring members,

I will still be in Florida and unable to attend the spring safety meeting on March 21st.  🙁

The winter months without any flying makes us all a little rusty and it’s normal for us to forget things.  When we get a little rusty it takes us time to get back into the normal flow, follow proper procedures that make for a safe operation on the field.  With that in mind, I would like to recommend that we all take some time to review the Sky Soaring Policy and Procedures Manual.  It contains important safety information about field operations.

I also recommend that each of us take the Wing Runner course that is available online at http://www.soaringsafety.org/learning/wingrunner/wingrunner.html

At the end of the course and when you pass the short quiz, you will be awarded a Certificate that you can print out. Bring that Certificate with you to the safety meeting, then place it in your personal folder in the Sky Soaring office.

For our Tow Pilots, I recommend taking the Tow Pilot Course located here: http://www.soaringsafety.org/learning/towpilot/towpilot.html

Do the same thing after passing the quiz. Print your Certificate and place it in your folder in the office.

For clarification, is the club still going to meet on the 21st to assemble the gliders?  It would seem since we are outdoors we will be safe, especially if we use Andy’s suggested antidote for corona-virus.
