Good evening all. I wish to thank our members who attended todays meeting. It was short but to the point, in my opinion good, as it left more time to fly. Of the six new members we have four of them, Ratnavel Sundaramurthii, Calvin Scott, Zach O’Grady and Bobby Kramer came out for the meeting and stayed for the flying. And fly we did! 25 flights, mostly instruction but at least one private ship flying and Stefan Seville finishing his required flights in the 1-26 so he can move on the the 1-34R. Nick Legenza gave all the tows and Gary Palumbo, Larry Kase and Geoff Weck handled the instruction. There wasn’t much lift so there weren’t any long flights.
Another observation I had was there was an occurrence where there were two ships in the pattern at the same time. Our new taxiway ended up being the landing strip for the first ship with the second following on the main runway, just like it has been designed to do. Well done to both pilots, Stefan and Trigg, who are not high time glider pilots, but who figured it out with a minimum of communication, leading to a safe and satisfactory ending to both of these flights.
Finally I wish to say thanks not only to the long term members who worked today but to our new members who pitched in to make the day possible. Just like the long termers, they ran wings, retrieved ships, ran the board, helped with tie downs and putting things away. Bobby and Zach were there to the bitter end.
So THANK YOU all for a very successful day! John Lincoln
