      Sky Soaring members;

      As you know we are very lucky to have our insurance policy renewed. With that new policy comes many new safety procedures to make flight operations safer. For those of you that have been out at the field recently you know that we now have some new procedures, those new procedures include:

      Morning safety briefing for all members present. The safety briefing includes the use of a “Briefing Board”. The Briefing Board contains information about current weather, NOTAMS, TFR’s, GSO, Towpilot and CFIG’s on duty. The briefing board needs to be updated during the day as weather and operations change. Any member that does not get the morning briefing will need to be briefed by any rated pilot club member prior to him/her flying.

      The GSO must wear an orange vest to identify himself as holding that position.

      Other new policies that will enhance safety will be coming in the updated Policy and Procedures Manual that will be available soon.

      Regards,
      Don Grillo

      Hello:

      Kind of hijacking the thread but today we had 9 flights and followed the policies.  There were mostly student and check out flights with 1 additional FAST flight.  Thanks to Gary for towing, John S. & Mike V. for CFI work and Art for tackling the GSO job and Mark & Andy for ground support with the golf carts.  I was able to keep Stars and Stripes up in some modest lift for a half hour around 3:30 pm.  A little gusty with wind right down the runway.  We used 9 for take off and landing.

      The forecast:
      <div class=”row row-even row-forecast”>
      <div class=”col-sm-2 forecast-label”><b>Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 79. East northeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

      Memorial Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. East wind 5 to 10 mph.</b></div>
      </div>
      <div class=”col-sm-10 forecast-text”>Thanks to everyone who make a nice day possible at Sky Soaring.</div>
      <div>Regards,</div>

      Holiday Dinner – Hawthorn Woods Country Club.Sorry to hijack the thread, but for some reason I can’t initiate a new one on my phone.  The HWCC Events Manager got back to me today.  Sundays in December are completely booked.  I have put Saturday, December 2nd on hold for Sky Soaring.  It is the only weekend date left.   This is the same location that Dale hosted the dinner pre-Covid.  If we can get a minimum of 35-40 guests to commit, I can make a go of it.  Do we have enough interested members?  We can do a similar setup as the last couple of dinners.  I think we had a cash bar and buffet layout.  I am out of state for the holiday, and will get more details after I return next week.Regards,Jeff Moran
