A Technical Issue with the SSI Message Forum That You Should be Aware of

I’d like to point out a technical deficiency with the Sky Soaring message Forum function that most members may be unaware of. This deficiency may keep you from seeing all the messages that members post to it IF YOU RELY ON YOUR EMAIL TO SEE MESSAGES.

 

There’s two ways to use the Forum: (1) Log into the Sky Soaring website, go to the Forum’s website page, and write a Forum message; or (2) Use the off-line email feature and wait for the Forum to email you other people’s messages. The email feature also allows you to send a reply to the Forum using your email – as if that Forum conversation is an individual.

 

The problem that’s occurring is that messages entered the first way – messages created online in the Forum web page – are NOT always being sent out to members via email. In other words, if you don’t log into the website and go to the Forum and read all the messages then you are probably missing some of the messages other members are writing.

 

I’ve spoken with Don Grillo about this problem and it may eventually be fixed, but I think for the sake of good communication, membership should be aware that you may not be seeing all of the winch messages that other members are writing. You need to log into the website, go to the Forum general discussion section and scroll through all the messages manually.

 

Don has created a beautiful website – light years better than anything we’ve had in the past. If you have not already, be sure to express your appreciation to him personally. But WordPress environments have a lot of moving parts and sometimes parts break for no apparent reason. It’s a lot of work to diagnose software problems and to fix them. It might be a good idea to disable the offline email feature until it’s working better.

Again, verify you’ve been seeing all the messages posted to the Forum by logging into the Sky Soaring website and going to the Forum general discussion section and manually scrolling through all the messages.
