      Hello:

Today I upgraded the first aid kit in the PW5.  It now has proper bandage pads, gauze, and other useful items.  Please let me know if any other first aid kits need anything.  This also applies to privately owned aircraft on the field.  We can train with “Stop the Bleed”, First Aid and CPR/AED to create the best chance of mitigating any problems in case of a medical emergency.  I offer FREE training and first aid supplies.  Take advantage of it.

      Regards,

      Rich

Thanks, Rich for the first aid kit.

Today was actually a good day. 20 flights total. All training with clouds starting out at 1500ft and slowly rising up to 2000ft. A good mix of pilots including Petr, John B, Jerry, Tim, Larry, Kees, John S, Rich and myself.

Mark and Gary provided the tows. John P started harvesting the alfalfa field. John De and John O worked on the winch light bar. Did I miss anyone? Bueller?

      Hello:

No need to thank me. We have tow pilots, mechanics, CFIs, grounds keepers, helpers, electricians, etc. all do their part. My part has been to assist on the medical training and equipment side. Everyone has a role in the club. Sometimes it takes time to find a useful place but everyone contributes. My thanks to all who are assisting at Sky Soaring.
      Regards,

      Rich

Please do not mow the alfalfa field yet. It provides lots of
nectar  plants for migrating monarch butterflies. The migration
will end when the temperatures are steadily below 60 degrees
(October). We can then mow. Thank you for your consideration in
      saving the monarch butterfly.

      Members,

Thanks for all your work. John D and John O for work on the winch lights, both Saturday and Thursday. Also on the winch thanks to Don, John O, John D and Steve for getting the stainless steel covers on. Thanks to Petr for his work on the electrical systems in the hangar. Thanks to John P for mowing the alfalfa field although it’s premature. Please wait to restart that project until at least mid to late October. Thanks to Don and Gary for looking into the repair of the 1-26E elevator. It is still grounded. Thanks to Jimbob for a couple of suggestions that should make making the repair easier. Steve was out mowing the other day. A big thanks to Rich Walenda for keeping our first aid kits up and current and for all the FREE first aid training he has dispensed. Like he has said, it takes all of us to run and maintain this club. A note of interest for all of us, The hangar roof will start to be repainted (weather permitting) on October 3rd. One other item about the alfalfa field near the east hangar – the Ford tractor with the bush hog mower will need to be used, not the Hustler zero turn mowers. Currently, it is out of service awaiting a tire repair.

      Best Regards,

      John,

I think the Hustlers can be used once the Ford has knocked down the first layer in the bean field.  We’ll need to play it by ear, as that field is highly overgrown and some of the plants are 5+ feet tall.  The Ford may need to make multiple passes before we’re down to Hustler height.  The amount of cuttage will be enormous and we may need to use the mowers to grind that up so it doesn’t smother new growth in the spring.  Maybe we should hire a Goat Herder and his herd to take care of it.
