We have some new EZ Tie Down straps that we are using on some of our gliders. If these new tie down straps are not properly latched and locked, they will come loose as they did this past Monday.  The new EZ Tie Down Straps also have two S hooks. Both S hooks need to be secured in the wing attach point and the ground anchor (see pictures below). The locking latch instructions are posted below and also in the SSI Files/Docs section as a PDF.

When out at the field, if unsure about how to properly secure the new EZ Tie Down straps, please ask for assistance.

For Attaching and Locking Tie-Down Straps
      1. Open the strap locking lever by depressing the release locking bar and rotating
      the locking lever fully open
      2. Secure the double S-Hooks to the aircrafts tie-down point
      3. Remove any slack from the strap by pulling downward on the outer strap to
      lightly tighten
      4. Close the strap locking lever until it clicks and locks in place. This will also
tighten the strap by one additional inch. If the lever requires a lot of force to
close and will not lock, add a just little slack to the strap then reclose the lever
until it clicks and locks in place.
      5. The lever must be fully closed and locked for the strap to be secure
